Altered Background Paper

Our Stamp Club met last night, we are getting quite proficient at putting out and clearing away the tables and chairs, many hands and all that.

The subject was “altered background papers”. We all have stacks of background papers either in pads or loose sheets which we once planned to do something with. My challenge was to alter it with stamps and inks. I was quite pleased with my efforts, in card 1 I painted gesso over the paper then inked with Distress Oxide inks. I then stamped and embossed the flowers from a JOFY set and cut them out and arranged them on a card. On the second card I stamped with Versamark clear embossing ink and heat embossed with clear powder. I then brayered acrylic paint over the whole sheet. I was able to wipe away the wet paint from the embossed image which then popped. For the tags I tore background papers and glued them randomly all over. I then painted, inked as before. I thought they were messy, confused and remembered this set of quirky quote stamps I had but have never used. Perfect.

Our Artist Trading Card swap theme was Nautical set by Dawne. Mine is the one with knotted string. We have a couple missing but again I am delighted with the results, the sets look fab in my ATC album.

Next month we are stamping on a little mini album consisting of four scalloped edge board pages, I have mine painted and will post it when finished.
